Upholstery - Before & Afters in 2022

These timber & rattan armchairs had seen better days. While the original upholstery looked to be in reasonable condition the chairs were very uncomfortable as the springs had collapsed. Luxe & Humble completely rebuilt the seat structure & reupholstered the chairs ensuring they will offer a comfortable seat for years to come!

As seen in the before picture, this Wingback had considerable wear particularly on the arms. In order to protect the chair moving forward Luxe & Humble's upholsterer manufactured antimacassar (Head & Arm Protectors) to ensure longevity. In addition to antimacassar, Luxe & Humble are also able to offer exceptional quality fabric protection - make sure you let us know if this is something you require!

This piano stool may only be small but the transformation is bright!
Now a feature piece in a recently renovated home. This family will enjoy hours practicing their favourite tunes on the comfort of this freshly upholstered stool.
 

These beautiful old chairs were in need of a little love when they arrived with Luxe & Humble.
The Timber work was solid, but the old stain & varnish was worn and the floral chair's upholstery in particular had seen better days. 
While the two chairs looked very similar (if not identical) as we commenced work we noticed that not only were they made of different timber but they were structurally different too! We confirmed with our client that she loved the natural timber look and and so we finished them so they would be well protected but so that the natural grain had the opportunity to shine!
We helped the client to source this stunning velvet fabric which is spectacularly luxurious and our upholsterer has done a fabulous job of making the fabric pop!

This spectacular old suite had most certainly seen better days, having most recently been stored under the house awaiting its transformation.
With comfort and style from yesteryear that just can't be purchased anymore their owner could envision their delightful transformation from ugly ducklings into spectacular swans! 
Having chosen a classic navy blue ticking - which as you can agree looks spectacular, our wonderful upholsterer set about lining up the lines and transforming these beauties. While I have strict instructions for "no more stripes" we think they look fabulous - and we think there may be a few more stripes in the future!

It's hard to believe now but this timber & rattan armchair started out filthy, with more fabric off than on. The timber was covered in a thick red stain and the rattan, well it was red too...

While it really didn't look anything special, I could see the potential, although I knew it would require a whole lot of hard work 🪛🔨

I am so proud to say that the hard work has paid off and with all the old upholstery, and stain removed, a whole lot of timber TLC, new rattan, and some stunning teal velvet, we have an absolutely beautiful chair awaiting the completion of her brand new home.

While she started out with a pretty rough upholstery job and a fake tan (dark brown stain) that was doing her no favours we could see her underlying potential.

With stunning lines, timeless style, and great bones, we set about stripping, sanding, adding new rattan, and reupholstering this beauty.

We reconfigured the initial 3 base cushions to create one long cushion - much easier to clean and more family friendly. 

We think that every single moment of her restoration (and there were quite a few) was absolutely worth it! With 6 bespoke scatter cushions still to be custom created to suit its new home we can't wait for photos of her in-situ.

A lovely little before & after transformation!

This delightful little chair had many, many layers of paint and lacquer on her. Once striped and sanded we could see that she appears to have previously had one of her legs replaced. She was wobbly, rickety, and had screws all through her holding her together.

With lots of stripping, sanding, gluing, clamping, oiling, and upholstering she has transformed from a rickety old lass into the most beautiful and elegant gal!
