Details
Before long-lasting batteries, kerosene hurricane lamps 🌙 lit up the Australian bush. The Lanora, made by Colton, Palmer & Preston in the 1940s, was wind-resistant 🌬️ and provided 44 hours of steady light ⏳.
Used by the RAAF ✈️ in WWII and favoured by farmers 🚜, campers ⛺, and road workers 🚧, it was built to last. By 1950, over a million were in use. Eventually, pressure lamps replaced them, but their legacy shines on. ✨
